WineCAP stands for Wine Community Against Poverty.  The group consists of New York wine professionals united in an effort to address the issues of hunger and poverty throughout the world. 

WineCAP’s inaugural event will be a wine dinner and auction on October 20, 2005.  Krug, Comtes Lafon, Vietti, Gaja, Gemstone, J.L. Chave and other world-class winemakers have come together with chefs Claudia Fleming of Gramercy Tavern and Lidia Bastianich - author, Public Television personality and owner of New York’s famed Felidia Restaurant.  Funds will benefit Oxfam North America’s efforts to provide food and safe drinking-water in Darfur.
