Appellation will break out the pencils, circle sheets and spit buckets as we dive into our fall series of wine classes. Sommeliers from some of the city?s top restaurants will teach classes weekly in our in-store classroom. All classes begin at 6:30pm and include a complimentary glass of sparkling in addition to the evening's featured wines.

Classes have already begun and are running five days a week until the beginning of 2012.  Purchase a class voucher for $45 to be used towards one of our featured classes this session.

  • Old World vs New World Reds – Taste the differences between Europe and everyone else as we sample two Syrahs, two Pinot Noirs and two Cabernet Sauvignons/Merlots.
  • Old World vs New World Whites –  Explore the differences between whites from Europe and non-European regions as we taste two Chardonnays, Rieslings and Sauvignon Blancs.
  • See, Sniff, and Swirl - Learn how to identify and describe the typical aromas, appearances and flavor characteristics of wines.
  • Sommelier Secrets - The inside scoop on how to navigate a restaurant wine list, store shelves and the fundamentals of wine appreciation.
  • French Reds - Journey through France and explore the red wines of Burgundy, the Loire Valley, Bordeaux and more!
  • French Whites- Focus on France’s regions best known for their exceptional white wines- Loire Valley, Burgundy and Alsace. 
  • Northern Italy - From the fragrant whites of the Northeast, to the sumptuous reds of the Veneto, and over to the powerful wines of Northwest Italy.
  • Central and Southern Italy - Taste the classics of Tuscany and Sicily and uncover truly fantastic wines you may have never even heard of.
  • Iberian Peninsula - Learn the difference between Albariño and Vino Verde, Rioja and Ribera del Duero, Tempranillo and Tinto de Toro. 
  • Germany and Austria - Why are these two countries favorites among the Sommelier-set? Join us to find out as you taste Rieslings, Grüner Veltliners, Pinot Noirs and Zweigelts.
